Wayne's new ride

Well folks here she is, my new ride, now stop laughing, I know it doesn't look like much, but neither did my trailer when I first got it,rite!! the new engine is still in the bed when these photos were taken, its under the hood as of now, I swapped it out last week and it runs great, started right up. She's a 1987 Chevy, camper special 1 ton, 4X4, manual locking hubs, P/S, P/B, tilt wheel, A/C, 6.2 diesel, 4 speed, bought it off the original owner, the motor that was in it was tired and smoked, so he picked up a used 6.2 with only 25,000 miles on it to replace the old motor, got the old motor about ready to come out and lost interest and bought another truck instead, good deal for me, the tires are 90% and it has a new clutch and brakes, the body is strait, but could use a paint job, Arizona sun takes it toll on paint. Interior is so,so but not to bad for the year, dash pad is cracked from the sun, but a cover will fix that as its only cracked on the top, seat is good and a new carpet for the floor should take care of the inside, OH its got a sliding rear window, some people don't care for them but I do. It has twin fuel tanks at 20 gals each, which is a plus, I'll use one of those for diesel and the other for WVO, but I have to carry more WVO than that so I'll look for a tank to put in the rear bed, 100 gals would be nice. The 6.2"s are good for about 22 miles to the gal, so 100 gals or so should be good for at least 2000 miles, not bad for a full size pickup.
I'm in FL right now came out here on last Thursday from Arizona, it took two days of driving in my Isuzu, arrived on Friday nite, total cost for fuel $40, I used about 60 gals of WVO mixed in with 10 gals of diesel ( that's where the $40 went on the 10 gals of diesel), the diesel cuts the WVO just enough to make it more burnable. I'm staying here two weeks than its back to AZ and the Chevy. I have a load of stuff to bring back,( all you guys out there knows what stuff is, we can't live without it) and a small 10'X6' trailer I have here should do the trick, more towing, I love it!!
Well that's it for now, Happy Trails everyone

Trip to Naco, Mexico

                                         Main st, Naco
                                          someone was really living here
This little church wasn't being used, one front door was missing and so were the windows
Went to Naco, Mexico yestersday to buy some diesel, its $3.14 a gallon, compaired to $3.79 in Douglas, its a compleatly different world in Mexico, the gas stations are run buy the goverment and there's only one type its called Premex, so there is no compitition, no shell, texaco or any other brands. Naco is only 13 miles from the park, so its a easy trip, The town is so depressed, they live a much differant life over there, housing is terrable, they live in shacks, there is no nice part of town, the main drag isn't to bad but one block either way and your in the slums.

I'm getting there

Well I layed the new carpet and Roger gave me some things he had in his storage trailer, its all stuff that's been left behind by renters, a nice double recliner, floor lamp and a old wicker chair that I think is cool. so its all coming together, now I need to get some curtains and a few things for the walls. I placed the recliner at a bit of a angle, I know the room it very small and it takes up more room this way but I kinda like it, it feels more homier to me. We had a great sunset as usual and I took it setting on my recliner looking out the front window.

Getting er done

Well the next step for the living room is the carpet, walls have been painted and windows have been trimmed out, after the carpet comes curtains, wish I had a women here for those, but I guess I'll weather it thu OK.

Today we had some visitors at the park, they came up from Mexico and did some pottery for us in the park at the rec hall, Its really nice stuff but a little to expensive for me, I'll buy mine at Walmart!! Their stuff is beautiful and its takes quite awhile to do it, they are coming up here because of all the killings in Mexico, have kept the tourists away.
Of course I had to add in one of our great sunsets.

Starting on the livingroom

Hi everybody, I took some windows out of the livingroom that were facing the building I'm parked next to, had to many windows in the room anyhow, felt like I was in a fish bowl everytime I walked in it. I think its much better, but I know that some of you won't agree, but that's OK. Painted the room avacodo and I think it looks good, too me anyhow. Next is to trim out the windows and lay the carpet down, I'm going with carpet for the time being as Roger, the owner of the park has some nice beige carpeting that one of his renters bought and then moved and left it behind, so he asked me If I wanted it and I said, of coarse, I was going to put a wood floor down but the carpet will do for now and its free, can't beat that!!

Moving day

Well I moved into my Roycraft the other day and what a God send, I've been in the little camper forever and its a nice change to have a full size refrigerator and bath room that I can turn around in, HOORAY, all that's left now is to finish the living room, and do decorating, only thing is that  I need everything. Next is the outside, that should be fun!! Painted my stove today and it came out super, looks like new, wish I could find a fifties refrigerator to set the kitchen off, who knows I might get lucky, there still around. I'm in a great spot in the camp ground, Rodger gave me a space all to myself, I think some of the other residents are jealous. I asked to be away from the others as I'm the only one with a wood stove and I didn't want to cause any bad feelings with the other residents with the smoke from my chimney.
                             We're getting there!!

Its starting to look like something

Well folks its really starting to look more like a kitchen now, put on the new countertop, I made out of linolium trimmed with metal edgeing and ran the linolium up under the cabinets as a back splash, there is another window over the sink, I just haven't cut it out yet, the new countertop fits the year 1955 more I think. A little more painting and trim work and the kitchen is a done deal, HOORAY
Here's the after and before, What'ya think??

Walk in the desert

Hi everyone, Decided I could use some exercise, so me and one of the others living in the park went for a 2 mile walk on the desert in back of the park, I took a picture facing the park from way in the back of the park, this will give you some idea how desolate it is here, the other photo is of this mornings sunrise, I love it here, its so peaceful and really quiet. Seen one coyote and a few deer while we were back there.
I gave the bathroom its first coat of paint today, when it drys I'll give it a final coat and then start putting up the new mirror and floor covering, next is to build a new cabinet for the sink and that should do it for that room.

For Tom, Patty and Cindy

This post is for you guy's, of coarse all of you other folks can look too, my good friend Tom called from New Jersey and said what's going on, you haven't posted anything in a long while and we are sitting here on pins and needles waiting for some news on how the trailer is coming along. Sorry everyone but I've been busy at my new job, yes that's rite JOB, Roger the owner of Twin Buttes RV park asked me if I'd be interested in giving him a hand doing the maintenance around the park, free lot rent and utility's, plus $125 a month cash and even a golf cart to go around the park in, well of coarse I said YES. This is heaven sent as it all boils down to a savings of about $350 a month to me, DOUBLE WHOOPEE. I have been doing work on my trailer tho, I usually spend a few hours a day on it, I did make a wood stove out of a 15 gallon barrel and it came out well, it heats the whole trailer on just a few sticks of wood a day, so its a big savings on the old heat bill.  We have plenty of mesquite trees here and its a great wood for stoves, very hard and it burns clean and smells great, if you've never smelled mesquite burning you've missed something.
I put down new under lament to cover the old floors to make a good base for carpet in the.bedroom and linoleum in the bathroom and kitchen, the lining room will get hard wood floors so I don't have to put it down there. I'm refacing the kitchen cabinets and putting in a new counter top, old fashion tho, with linoleum as a new top surface, trust me your gonna like it when its done, I turned the cloths closet across from the kitchen sink into a new counter and cabinets, why would you need two big clothes closets, especially one them being in the kitchen?? Originally the gas stove was at the end of the counter by the hall way leading to the bathroom and bedroom, I moved the stove and placed it next to the fridge and am making a counter where the stove was, much better I think. I have the bedroom all finished but for the carpeting, which hopefully I'm going to buy this weekend, then I can set my bed up and that room will be done except for some finishing touches like curtains, some pictures, and more furniture, not too much tho.
Well that's it for now, bye and love to you all, Wayne
